Boo the Sniffer Dog Helps Seize Thousands of Illegal Tobacco
A Glasgow trade standards operation with the help of sniffer dog Boo seizes over 20,000 illegal cigarettes and tobacco.

According to Glasgow Times, during a joint operation conducted by the trade standards department and the police in Glasgow, a sniffer dog named Boo assisted them in seizing over 20,000 illegal cigarettes, nearly 1,000 illicit e-cigarettes, and approximately 7 kilograms of tobacco from four shops in the city.

 

The operation took place on Wednesday, and Boo is the only tobacco detection-trained sniffer dog in Glasgow.

Russia is preparing changes to its e-cigarette state standard GOST R 58109–2018. Bangkok Port Customs on April 28 announced the seizure of 52,000 complete e-cigarettes, 100 gallons of e-liquid and 126,226 canisters of nitrous oxide, with total economic damage exceeding THB 27 million, or about USD 831,178 based on an April 28 USD/THB rate of 32.484. The e-cigarette and e-liquid shipment was valued at THB 5.56 million, or about USD 171,161, while the nitrous oxide shipment was valued at THB 21.27 million, or about USD 654,784.

Imperial Brands said it will gradually close the Reemtsma factory in Langenhagen near Hanover by 2027 after efforts to find a buyer failed to produce a sustainable agreement. The factory has produced cigarettes since 1971 and currently affects around 600 employees.
