Malaysia Government Puts "Generation Smoke-Free" on Hold
Malaysia temporarily shelves the "Generation Smoke-Free" portion of the amended Tobacco Bill to expedite legislation process.

According to a report by KLSE, the Malaysian government has temporarily put aside a part of the revised Tobacco Bill, which aims to achieve a "Smoke-Free Generation (GEG)", in order to expedite the legislative process in the lower house of parliament. The government is also implementing regulations on tobacco and e-cigarette products, with the aim of preventing underage individuals from using these products. Health Minister Zaliha Mustafa stated in a press conference on Tuesday that the priority at the moment is to ensure control over tobacco products, especially e-cigarettes.

Indonesia to Step Up Vape Surveillance as Concerns Rise Over Drug-Laced E-Cigarettes
Indonesia will strengthen surveillance of vapes amid growing concerns over drug-laced e-cigarettes. The National Food and Drug Monitoring Agency, or BPOM, will soon take charge of monitoring nationwide vape distribution and said it will work with the National Narcotics Agency, or BNN. BNN recently floated a plan to completely ban e-cigarettes, saying a total ban was the only way to prevent liquid narcotics.

Spain’s Nicotine Pouch Sales Reached 5 Million Cans in 2025, Industry Says 2026 Could Hit 8 Million
Spain’s Nicotine Pouch Association said nicotine pouch sales in Spain reached 5 million cans of 20 units in 2025 and are expected to rise 60% to 8 million in 2026. The group said there are currently 20 to 30 brands on the Spanish market and called for regulation proportionate to product risk. It also opposed a proposal to reduce nicotine content to 0.99 mg per pouch, saying it would amount to a de facto ban on the category.

OLAF and Customs Authorities From 30 Countries Seize More Than 94 Million Illicit Vape and Heated Tobacco Items
The European Anti-Fraud Office said on April 17 that its “JCO VAPE” operation, carried out together with customs authorities from 30 countries, successfully targeted the illicit trade in e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products. The operation, conducted from November 14 to December 15, 2025, resulted in seizures of more than 94 million items and more than 2,500 kg/l of tobacco products, e-cigarettes, devices, and related goods.
