Saratov Governor Supports Russian Nationwide Ban on E-Cigarette Sales
Governor of Saratov Oblast, announced on his official Telegram channel that he fully supports a nationwide ban on the sale of e-cigarettes. Busargin noted that while restrictions on such products have long been in place, enforcement remains weak and health experts continue to warn of the risks posed to children. He stressed that economic interests must not outweigh public health and said Saratov is ready to enforce a ban once regional powers are granted.

2Firsts, November 17, 2025——On November 17, 2025, according to Russian media outlet om-saratov, Roman Busargin, the Governor of Saratov Oblast in Russia, announced on his official Telegram channel that he fully supports the initiative to ban the sale of e-cigarettes nationwide.

 

Busarjin pointed out that this issue is currently in the discussion stage at the federal level.

 

He emphasized that although Russia has already implemented multiple restrictions on e-cigarettes, the actual effectiveness of regulation is limited. Several medical experts had previously warned that e-cigarettes pose a potential threat to the health of children and adolescents, and the government should prioritize the health of minors.

 

The governor also stated that businesses should not let profit motives hinder decisions to maintain the sale of e-cigarettes. He emphasized that this issue relates to public safety and that there is no room for compromise.

 

We fully support the ban on e-cigarette sales and advocate for stronger regulations. Saratov Oblast, like other federal subjects, is ready to implement the ban as soon as authorized. I have requested that state Duma deputies draft relevant proposals and submit them for federal review.

The UK government announced on April 29 that the Tobacco and Vapes Bill had received Royal Assent and become law. Under the new law, it is illegal to sell tobacco to anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 2009.
