China's New E-cigarette Export Destinations in 2023

China saw a surge in e-cigarette exports in 2023, with the addition of 17 new destinations including Congo and Taiwan.

On October 20th, according to the updated trade data by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, 2FIRSTS has compiled a list of 17 new export destinations for Chinese e-cigarettes in 2023, including countries and regions.

As follows:

Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritania, Samoa, Benin, Dutch Saint Martin, China, Taiwan, Turkmenistan, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Gabon, Nicaragua, Malawi, Marshall Islands, Wallis and Futuna, Equatorial Guinea, Uganda, American Samoa.

FDA Wins Default Entry in Case Against E-Cigarette Distributor, to Seek Permanent Injunction

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has made procedural progress in its lawsuit against North Carolina-based e-cigarette distributor Dream Distro LLC and its owner. A federal district judge granted the government’s request for entry of default after the defendants failed to respond to the complaint within 21 days of service. The government will next seek a default judgment, including a permanent injunction.

BAT New Zealand Says Illicit Tobacco Trade Drove Nearly 29% Revenue Decline in 2025

British American Tobacco New Zealand said the illicit tobacco trade is responsible for its profit halving and revenue falling between the 2024 and 2025 financial years. Financial results filed with the Companies Office show that BAT Holdings (New Zealand) recorded 2025 revenue of NZ$180.7 million, or about US$106.95 million based on the European Central Bank’s April 27, 2026 reference rates, down from NZ$254 million, or about US$150.33 million, in 2024.

UK Opens Applications for Vaping Products Duty and Duty Stamps Scheme From April 1

HM Revenue and Customs announced that from April 1, 2026, UK vaping product manufacturers, importers and warehousekeepers can apply for approval under Vaping Products Duty (VPD) and the Vaping Duty Stamps Scheme (VDS). Under new GOV.UK guidance, Vaping Products Duty will take effect on October 1, 2026 and will apply to all vaping liquids, whether they contain nicotine or not.

Local governments across South Korea recently issued press releases saying they would intensively crack down on the use of liquid e-cigarettes in smoke-free areas. Since the revised Tobacco Business Act, passed in December last year, included liquid e-cigarettes within the definition of tobacco and took effect on April 24, local authorities had prepared to begin enforcement immediately.
