Maryland Passes Bill to Regulate E-cigarette Tax, Debate on Flavor Bans Continues

According to a report from the NM Tribune on November 21st, recent developments in the state of Maryland have resulted in the passing of a bill regarding the taxation of e-cigarettes. This legislation signifies a significant advancement in the regulation of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) in the state.

 

However, the debate on whether to ban flavored e-cigarette products continues, influenced by financial pressures.

Imperial Brands said it will gradually close the Reemtsma factory in Langenhagen near Hanover by 2027 after efforts to find a buyer failed to produce a sustainable agreement. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on May 5, 2026 that it authorized the marketing of four Glas electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) products through the premarket tobacco product application (PMTA) pathway.
