October 12, 2026

According to product information published by UK nicotine retailer Haypp on July 31, 2026, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has introduced PERLZ fully dissolvable nicotine pearls in the UK. The initial range comprised four 30-pearl dispenser products in Mint and Berry flavors, each available at nicotine concentrations of 1mg/g and 2mg/g. Three 10-pearl sachet products followed on August 17.

PERLZ uses a multi-layer dissolvable structure designed for placement under the tongue. The tobacco-free, sugar-free pearls dissolve completely, with a claimed nicotine-release duration of up to approximately 12 minutes.

Multi-Layer Pearls Contain Approximately 0.3mg or 0.5mg of Nicotine Each

PERLZ consists of small spherical oral nicotine products placed under the tongue, where they gradually dissolve and release nicotine and flavor.

According to Haypp, the pearls use a multi-layer structure intended to provide gradual nicotine release. Unlike conventional nicotine pouches, PERLZ dissolves fully during use, leaving no pouch material to remove.

The range is available at two nicotine concentrations:

1mg/g: Approximately 0.3mg of nicotine per pearl.

2mg/g: Approximately 0.5mg of nicotine per pearl.

Both concentrations are available in Mint and Berry flavors.

The Berry variant combines strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry flavor notes. Haypp positions PERLZ within its lower-strength oral nicotine assortment.

The products are tobacco-free and sugar-free, with a claimed nicotine-release duration of up to approximately 12 minutes.

Four 30-Pearl Dispensers and Three 10-Pearl Sachet Variants

PERLZ is available in two packaging formats in the UK: a 30-pearl dispenser and a 10-pearl sachet.

The dispenser is a reusable plastic container equipped with a safety lock. It is available in all four flavor-and-strength combinations.

The sachet format contains 10 pearls and is available in Mint 1mg/g, Mint 2mg/g and Berry 2mg/g.

July Dispenser Listings Followed by August Sachet Expansion

Haypp's product records show a publication date of July 31, 2026, for the four 30-pearl dispenser variants.

A sachet mixpack listing appeared on August 13, followed by the three individual 10-pearl sachet listings on August 17.

Industry Perspective

JTI already operates in the nicotine pouch category through Nordic Spirit. PERLZ extends its oral nicotine portfolio into a fully dissolvable sublingual format.

Each pearl contains approximately 0.3mg to 0.5mg of nicotine, below the per-unit nicotine content of many conventional nicotine pouches marketed at several milligrams per pouch. Differences in product formulation and delivery mean that labeled nicotine content alone does not establish equivalent nicotine absorption.

The initial 30-pearl dispenser range was followed by smaller 10-pearl sachets and a mixed-format retail bundle, adding pack-size and price options to the PERLZ portfolio.

From Border-Logistics Insiders to Retail Service Stations, Australia Mounts a Sweeping Crackdown on the Illicit Nicotine Trade as iGET Vapes Surface in A$80 Million Crime Networks
Australian authorities have disclosed two major enforcement actions that go beyond product seizures and retail closures to examine how illicit tobacco and vape networks operate. On Aug. 14, the Multi Agency Strike Team said seven people had been charged and two criminal networks were valued by authorities at a combined A$80 million, or about US$56.8 million. Investigators allege the groups used bonded warehouses, freight businesses and “trusted insiders” in legitimate industries to circumvent border controls. In a separate operation on Aug. 11, more than 100 service stations were targeted as authorities sought information on illicit tobacco importation, distribution networks and the movement of sales proceeds.

UK Directors Banned After 352,688 Vapes Imported From China Were Misdeclared as Medical Nebulizers in £15 Million Tax Case
The UK Insolvency Service said YSK Enterprises imported large quantities of vapes from China in 2023, with a shipment addressed to the company declared as medical nebulizers before Border Force found 352,688 vaping products. HMRC calculated nearly £15 million ($20.3 million) in unpaid VAT and customs duty, alongside about £437,000 in corporation tax. Two directors were disqualified for nine years. The case predates the UK's Vaping Products Duty, which will introduce vape-specific excise and duty-stamp requirements from October 2026.

Australia Tobacco Tax Debate Spreads Within Labor as NSW Premier Minns Reaffirms Support for a Cut
Australia’s tobacco excise debate is increasingly exposing differences within the governing Labor Party. New South Wales Labor Premier Chris Minns reaffirmed on September 8 that he supports reducing tobacco excise, arguing that current tax settings are pushing consumers toward cheaper black-market cigarettes. Federal Health Minister Mark Butler continues to oppose an excise cut, while Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Assistant Treasurer Daniel Mulino have recently stopped short of ruling out future changes. The divergence follows the opposition Coalition’s proposal to cut tobacco excise by 80%.

Exclusive Analysis | Smoore H1 Revenue Rises 19.9% Amid Growth Concentration, Profit Pressure and Slowing Momentum
Smoore’s first-half 2026 revenue rose 19.9%, but the results revealed growing structural risks beneath the headline growth. Heat-not-burn contributed about 61% of incremental revenue and remains driven largely by one core customer, while traditional vaping markets diverged, own-brand growth slowed and China enterprise revenue declined further. Gross profit and adjusted profit lagged revenue growth, while second-quarter revenue growth slowed to about 1.9%, putting greater focus on the quality, concentration and sustainability of Smoore’s expansion.
