Indian Tax Authority Seizes $185k Worth of E-Cigarettes
Indian tax authorities seized $185,000 worth of e-cigarettes in a second major operation in Jaipur as part of "Vape Out.

According to a report from India Times on August 2, the Indian Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) raided a commercial building in the C-Scheme area of Jaipur on Thursday (August 1) and seized 10,540 e-cigarettes worth 15.5 million rupees (185,000 USD).


This is the second major bust by the Tax Intelligence Bureau within a week, as part of its "Vape Out" operation.


The seizure was carried out following the interrogation of a suspect named Sunil Kumar Sharma. Prior to this (on July 24th), based on information provided by the suspect, the DRI seized 8500 illegal e-cigarettes.


A senior official from the Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) stated that the seizure of the products was a result of their ongoing efforts to curb the illegal trade of e-cigarettes in the city. These illegal e-cigarettes were smuggled into Jaipur from countries such as Dubai and China.
