Action Taken to Crack down on Sale of E-cigarettes to Minors in Kaluga Region

Russian authorities in Kaluga region have conducted a joint operation with police to detain a vendor selling e-cigarettes to minors.

According to the news from Mkkaluga on October 25th, representatives from the public council in the Kaluga region of Russia, along with the police, have launched a joint operation to apprehend a merchant selling e-cigarettes to minors. This new initiative, aimed at "refusing sales to minors," primarily focuses on conducting inspections at tobacco and e-cigarette retail outlets.

The operation confirmed the hotline information, as the authorities discovered that the seller was illegally selling goods to minors. The corresponding misconduct has been registered by the police, and the information regarding these illegal sales will be forwarded to the Consumer Rights Bureau in the Kaluga region.

Furthermore, volunteers from the organization "Youth Guards" have urged businesses from 20 other sales points to strictly abide by the law, providing them with promotional materials and stickers.

In April 2023, the Russian government has increased the fines for selling tobacco and nicotine products to minors. The fines for entities have doubled, reaching 600,000 rubles, while the fines for individuals who purchase cigarettes for teenagers have more than doubled, now totaling 7,000 rubles.
