Philippines police seize $200k worth of illegal e-cigarette products, arrest 2 suspects

Philippine police in Cavite seize $200,000 worth of illegal e-cigarette products, arresting two suspects. Crackdown on smuggling intensifies.

On October 13, 2025, PhilStar reported that authorities in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines intercepted an illegal shipment of e-cigarette products valued at 12 million pesos (20.6 thousand US dollars). This operation is part of the government's efforts to crackdown on smuggling.

 

According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), they confiscated 15 boxes and 40 individual units of various e-cigarette products in a raid in Barangay Molino III, Bahrain.

 

The head of the CIDG, Major General Robert Alexander Morico II, stated that two suspects have been arrested for selling illegal items.

 

Authorities have pointed out that these e-cigarette products are harmful to health because they contain toxic and addictive substances.

 

Philippine National Police Deputy Director Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has warned smugglers to stop their illegal activities and stated that the Philippine National Police has intensified efforts to crack down on crimes related to economic sabotage.
