According to TASS, Russian State Duma Deputy Speaker Vladislav Davankov (New People) said a total ban on vapes is needed in part to prevent narcotics being sold under the guise of vaping products.

Speaking at a faction roundtable, he said there are documented cases of drugs being sold near schools “in the form of vapes,” and argued that a full ban would place “another barrier” in the spread of prohibited substances.

TASS also noted that Russia has previously passed a law banning vape sales at public transport stops, which is set to take effect on Sept. 1, 2026.
