According to a report from Antara News on June 18, a new study from smoke-free Sweden suggests that oral nicotine pouches are changing the landscape towards Sweden becoming the first smoke-free country in the world - and are driving unprecedented success among women. The report titled "Power in a Pouch", released on June 17 in Strasbourg, shows that since their introduction in 2016, smoke-free pouches have helped accelerate the decline in smoking rates for both men and women, with a nearly 200% increase in female cessation rates. Sweden currently has a smoking rate of 5.3%, just above the 5% smoke-free benchmark. Male lung cancer death rates are 61% lower than the EU average; overall cancer death rates are 34% lower.
