According to SANA, Damascus Health Affairs Director Rıdvan es-Sevvak (Rıdvan es-Sevvak) said a comprehensive decision has been taken to ban e-cigarettes due to health risks. The ban prohibits the production, circulation, sale and use of e-cigarettes, with the stated aim of protecting public health, particularly among children and young people.

 

Es-Sevvak said e-cigarette use has been linked to certain lung diseases, and that easy access to these products increases the risk of nicotine dependence and could lead users over time to shift toward traditional cigarettes.

 

On enforcement, he said that when violations are detected, products will be confiscated and destroyed and legal proceedings will be initiated against businesses. He added that workplaces will be closed for three days for a first violation, with longer closure periods in cases of repeat breaches. Authorities have also intensified inspections across the city to prevent the spread of e-cigarette use.
