Turkey’s Mersin Police Seize Over 700,000 Smuggled E-Cigarettes; Suspect Referred to Judiciary
Turkish police in Mersin have uncovered a major e-cigarette smuggling case, seizing 701,600 illicit items. The suspect has been detained and investigated, with the case now moving into judicial proceedings.

According to haberler on August 12, police in Mersin Province seized a large batch of e-cigarettes and tobacco products from a vehicle driven by a 44-year-old suspect, license plate number 34 BP 6641.

 

Upon a detailed inspection of the vehicle, officers found 701,600 items that had not undergone customs clearance. The suspect was immediately taken into custody for preliminary questioning.

 

Following police processing, the suspect was referred to the judicial authorities. The case is now in legal proceedings, and the court has granted bail under necessary legal monitoring conditions.

 

This operation underscores Mersin police’s firm resolve in combating the smuggling of prohibited goods and highlights the local enforcement agencies’ strong commitment to safeguarding public safety and market order.
