Ukraine Border Patrol Seizes Millions Worth of Illegal Tobacco

Ukrainian Border Guard Service seized illegal tobacco products worth $37.7k, confiscated equipment and documents, busting multiple illegal production networks.

According to reports on August 7th, the Ukrainian Border Guard Service announced through its Telegram channel the latest seizure of illegal tobacco products. After 30 raids, a joint group composed of Kyiv special police officers and representatives from the Security Service of Ukraine discovered nearly 19,000 packages of water pipe tobacco of various sizes and over 2,000 disposable e-cigarettes without the required consumption tax stamps.

According to reports, items, documents, funds, and equipment worth about 15.5 million grivnas (approximately $377,000) used to verify the criminal activities of the suspects have also been sealed and confiscated as required by law.

According to reports, since the beginning of this year, Ukraine has successfully seized illegal tobacco products and production equipment worth nearly 1 billion hryvnia (approximately 24 million USD) and dismantled multiple illegal production networks. This action demonstrates Ukraine's efforts and effectiveness in combating the illegal tobacco market.
