Vladimir Putin Signs Law on Selling Tobacco to Minors

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law introducing criminal liability for selling alcohol and tobacco to minors multiple times.

According to a report by RIA on December 28th, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law introducing criminal liability in Russia for repeatedly selling alcohol, tobacco, and nicotine products to minors. The relevant documents have been published on the official website of the legislative database.

The law stipulates that selling alcohol, tobacco, products containing nicotine, ingredients for such products, hookahs, or consumption devices for products containing nicotine to minors multiple times will result in a fine of 50,000 to 80,000 rubles ($480-$760), or deductions from the offender's salary or other income for 3 to 6 months. Additionally, penalties may include up to 1 year of corrective labor and a possible ban on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to 3 years.
