According to information released by local authorities in Barnsley, UK, town-centre vape retailer Incredible Vapes and its owner, Adam Casper, have been ordered to pay more than £15,000 after failing to comply with three improvement notices and continuing to sell illegal goods.

Casper pleaded guilty to five offences on behalf of himself and his company, Beatie Enterprises Ltd, which operates Incredible Vapes on May Day Green, during a hearing at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court last Thursday. The company was ordered to pay £13,310 in fines and costs, while Casper—who accepted responsibility for the issues at the shop—was separately ordered to pay £2,515.

The case stemmed from Trading Standards inspections carried out last June as part of checks on compliance with new legislation introduced alongside the single-use vape ban. Officers found the shop still had illegal vapes available for sale. They also identified food items being sold without legally required labelling, including ingredient information in English and the name and address of a UK business.

Trading Standards served the company with three improvement notices detailing the breaches and how to remedy them. When officers returned in July, they found the business had not complied and had instead restocked a significant number of illegal single-use vapes.

Councillor Wendy Cain, cabinet spokesperson for public health and communities, said the council would continue prioritising action to keep unsafe products off shelves, tackle illegal tobacco and vapes, and support businesses in understanding and meeting new legal requirements.
