BAT Submits Final PMTA for Age Restriction Devices for Vuse Pro ENDS Device
BAT subsidiary, RJ Reynolds Vapor Company, has submitted its Vuse Pro age-restricted tobacco product application to the FDA.

On June 27, RJ Reynolds Vapor Company (RJRVC), a subsidiary of British American Tobacco (BAT), announced on its official website that it has submitted its Vuse Pro premarket tobacco product application (PMTA) for age restriction devices to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Vuse Pro is an electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) device platform that connects to a mobile application. Before use, consumers' ages are verified by a third-party provider to ensure that they are at least 21 years old and meet the legal minimum purchasing age for tobacco and vapor products. Additionally, only verified adult users can unlock the device and use pods that are compatible with Vuse Pro.

This technology and mobile application also support functions such as automatic locking and proximity locking, further ensuring the security of the device's use.

Tim Nestor, Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Renault, stated that...

We have submitted a PMTA application to the FDA, demonstrating our commitment to providing choices for adult tobacco and nicotine consumers, while also preventing underage individuals from accessing our products. We never want our products to end up in the hands of minors. The Vuse Pro ENDS platform offers solutions for adult consumers, restricts use among minors, and delivers appealing flavors and unique experiences to current adult smokers.

According to U.S. law, any new tobacco product entering the market must obtain FDA authorization before being sold in the United States.

As part of the submission documents, Renault Company provided nearly 80,000 pages of scientific data to the FDA for review, including 97 scientific studies.

UK Report: Teen Vaping Rate Drops to 15% as 63% See E-Cigs as Equally Harmful as Smoking
The UK’s Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) reports e-cigarette use among 18-year-olds dropped from 20% to 15% in 2024, with 11–15-year-olds steady at 5%. A disposable vape ban is expected to push rates lower. Meanwhile, 63% of 11–17-year-olds wrongly believe vaping is as harmful as smoking. For the first time, more youths have tried cigarettes than vapes. The IBVTA blames negative media and urges strict age checks.
