Brazilian Authorities Crack Down on Illegal E-cigarette Sales in Kuritiba

Brazilian federal police and tax authorities launched operation "HeadVapers 2" to crack down on illegal e-cigarette sales in Curitiba.

According to Brazilian media reports on May 22nd, the Federal Police of Brazil, in collaboration with the Federal Revenue Service, launched a law enforcement operation codenamed "HeadVapers 2" to disrupt illegal online e-cigarette sales in the Curitiba region.

During the operation, authorities carried out a search and seizure operation, confiscating thousands of e-cigarettes, e-liquids, and accessories from foreign countries. Due to their harmful effects on public health, Brazil's National Health Monitoring Agency (ANVISA) has explicitly banned the import of these products.

This investigation was prompted by an anonymous tip-off, alleging that a distributor in the Curitiba Metropolitan Area was engaging in illicit activities. During the course of the investigation, authorities uncovered a hub specializing in online sales, moving large quantities of e-cigarettes and other products on a weekly basis.

The selling and storing of these foreign products constitutes smuggling, and those found guilty will face 2-5 years of imprisonment. The operation was carried out with the participation of the Brazilian Federal Police (PF).
