Challenges and Opportunities in Indonesia's Tobacco Industry
Indonesia tobacco industry faces challenges with increased tobacco consumption tax, but Nojorono Kudus remains optimistic about prospects.

According to a report from Bisnis on May 7th, the Indonesian cigarette industry is facing challenges with tobacco consumption tax. However, Nojorono Kudus, an international tobacco company, remains optimistic about the industry's growth prospects.

Arief Goenadibrata, director of the tobacco multinational company, PT Nojorono Tobacco International, stated that the increase in tobacco consumption tax is a government policy aimed at reducing the negative impact of smoking on public health and boosting national revenue. He also added that taxes for each category of cigarettes have been adjusted. However, the tax increase for hand-rolled cigarettes (SKT) is lower, as it is a labor-intensive industry.

Arif is optimistic about business growth and expansion opportunities in 2024. He believes that this year, the entire tobacco industry market is expected to face challenges and changes in the regulatory environment, increasing tobacco consumption taxes, and market dynamics. Nojorono Tobacco International Company is a pioneer and major player in the Indonesian tobacco industry, with over 90 years of operation in the industry.

He still sees opportunities for growth and expansion. Nocorono Tobacco will be innovating its products in some cigarette categories, especially targeting hand-rolled tobacco cigarettes (SKT) and machine-made cigarettes (SKM) to cater to the market's tastes and demands.

He added, "We believe that through strategic steps, the company will still be able to have a positive impact on the community and the environment, while upholding the noble values and social responsibility that we have always adhered to."
