Consumers and Advocates Welcome FDA-CTP's Health Findings
Consumer groups and tobacco harm advocates in the Philippines welcome FDA-CTP's conclusion that smokeless products pose lower health risks.

According to local media outlet Manila Times on May 5th, consumer groups and advocates for reducing tobacco harm in the Philippines have welcomed comments from the US Food and Drug Administration's Center for Tobacco Products (FDA-CTP). The FDA-CTP concluded in their comments that the health risks of smokeless tobacco products are lower than those of cigarettes.

 

The Food and Drug Administration's Center for Tobacco Products (FDA-CTP) has released a commentary titled "Nicotine E-cigarettes: Considerations for Providers of Health Security.

 

This comment points out that "non-combustible tobacco products, such as e-cigarettes, generally pose lower health risks to users than combustible tobacco products.

 

This conclusion immediately sparked strong reactions from consumer groups in the Philippines and advocates for reducing tobacco harm. They welcomed the conclusion from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Tobacco Products (FDA-CTP), believing it will have a positive impact on promoting the use of smoke-free products.
