Crackdown on Illegal Sales of E-Cigarettes in Philippines Capital
DTI-NCRO crackdown on illegal e-cigarette sales near schools, violators may face criminal charges, according to PIA report.

Key Points:

1.The Department of Trade and Industry - National Capital Region Office (DTI-NCRO) has established a specialized task force to crackdown on the illegal sale of e-cigarettes in the national capital region of the Philippines.

2.The new regulations strictly prohibit the sale of e-cigarettes near school campuses, with violators possibly facing criminal charges.

According to a report from PIA on March 12th, the Department of Trade and Industry - National Capital Region Office (DTI-NCRO) in the Philippines has established a specialized team dedicated to regulating and enforcing laws related to e-cigarettes.

 

Winston T. Singun, the Regional Director of DTI-NCRO, pointed out during a forum on Tuesday (11th) that the widespread use of e-cigarette products among adolescents has raised concerns in society.

 

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) takes on the primary responsibility for the enforcement of e-cigarette regulations. We have a dedicated office at our headquarters that specifically handles issues related to e-cigarettes.

 

He explained that consumer departments in various regions have been instructed to enforce regulations prohibiting the sale of e-cigarette products near schools.

 

In addition, the department also strictly enforces the product standards of these products, although Xingong pointed out that the e-cigarette project is not directly under the jurisdiction of DTI-NCRO.

 

When asked about the penalties for businesses selling e-cigarettes illegally near schools, Xin Gong stated that violators will face serious consequences.
