According to Kıbrıs Postası, citing Politis, an international operation across EU countries aimed at detecting illicit substances in e-cigarettes also took place in South Cyprus. The report says multiple e-liquid items and products containing cannabis and THC were seized, and preliminary laboratory results indicated the products contained banned narcotics or new psychoactive synthetic substances.

 

The report states the operation was conducted by the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) in November and December under the name “eVAPER8,” aiming to check and identify e-cigarette liquids that could contain synthetic drugs.

 

According to the report, South Cyprus carried out intensified controls on goods imported from third countries between Nov. 23 and Dec. 21, 2025. In Nicosia, 85 e-liquid items were identified, and 25 different samples were taken and sent to a laboratory.

 

The report adds that Customs seized 269 packs of products containing cannabis and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), while the Pharmacy Department identified 20 packs of CBD products without sales authorization.

 

By location, the report says Paphos saw the seizure of 33 e-liquid items, with 7 samples sent for examination, alongside seizures of THC and cannabis products, handmade cannabis cigarettes, and unauthorized CBD products. It also says Paralimni saw 75 e-liquid items seized with 24 samples sent to a laboratory, and that additional cannabis- and THC-containing products and unauthorized CBD products were identified and seized.
