Destruction of 2400 illegal e-cigarettes in Vietnam
Vietnam's police in Quang Truong province have destroyed nearly 2400 smuggled e-cigarettes and related products to protect consumers' rights and health.

According to a report from Vietnamese media outlet ANTV on October 22nd, the police in Vietnam's Baccuoc Province have destroyed nearly 2,400 e-cigarettes, along with their associated e-liquid and accessories.


All of these products are smuggled goods of unknown origin and production location. They have been seized by local law enforcement agencies and a destruction announcement has been issued.


The destruction process is carried out strictly in accordance with legal regulations, aiming to protect consumers' rights and health, as well as the interests of legitimate production and business organizations. At the same time, it also serves as a means of educating and deterring organizations and individuals engaged in illegal smuggling activities.

Philip Morris International (PMI) said its U.S.-related investments have topped $20 billion since 2022, when it entered the U.S. market through its roughly $19 billion acquisition of Swedish Match. The company also said it plans to launch its heated tobacco product IQOS ILUMA in the United States pending authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In Nepal’s Mustang district, authorities seized 80 cartons of e-cigarettes valued at NPR 22,459,320 (approximately US$150,000) in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-4, Nechung, and detained a 32-year-old man, Pema Lama. The account says the e-cigarettes were allegedly brought illegally from China three to four days earlier and loaded near the Korala Nepal–China border point before being intercepted.

Serbian logistics company Nelt Group said it has become a distributor for Japan Tobacco International products in Albania. According to the company, the partnership has created 50 new jobs in the local market. Nelt described the move as part of a broader change to its business model in Albania. France’s Council of State has suspended a government decree that was set to ban the manufacture, production and export of nicotine pouches from April 2026. The court ruled that companies were not given sufficient time to reorganise their operations. A final decision on the legality of the decree is expected by June 2026. The court noted that the commercial sale of nicotine pouches is already restricted under existing public health laws.
