Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Promises Tax Reforms if Elected President

Ghana's NPP leader Dr. Bawumia pledges to scrap controversial e-cigarette and betting taxes if elected president in 2024.

According to a report by Myjoyonline on August 18, the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, stated that if elected president in the 2024 general elections, he would abolish the controversial e-cigarette and gambling taxes.

During the New Patriotic Party declaration meeting held on Sunday, October 18, Bawumia outlined his government's vision for comprehensive tax reform aimed at reducing the financial burden on the people of Ghana.

We will accelerate Ghana's transformation into the digital hub of Africa through strategic policies, incentive measures, and investments. This includes investing in local talent and technology startups, while also abolishing the e-cigarette tax.

If he wins in the upcoming 2024 election, Bawumia also promises to establish a more business-friendly environment.

Bawumia also outlined his government's comprehensive tax policy, which is specifically designed to accelerate business growth and drive national economic development.

Bawumia has been serving as the Vice President of Ghana since 2017, primarily responsible for formulating government policies and guiding their implementation.
