Driver Arrested for Illegal Tobacco and Cash in Australia
Authorities in Hunter Valley, New South Wales, charged a driver after finding hundreds of illegal cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and cash in a vehicle.

According to Mirage News report on June 23, the Hunter Valley Police in New South Wales, Australia have charged a driver after allegedly finding hundreds of packets of illegal cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and cash inside a vehicle.


At around 8:30 PM on June 22nd, the local police in Parkville stopped a Toyota SUV on the New England Highway for a random breath test.


It is reported that during the interception, authorities found a large amount of tobacco in the back seat of the SUV.


After searching the vehicle, the officers discovered and seized 682 packets of cigarettes, 40 e-cigarettes hidden in fitness equipment, and over 52,000 Australian dollars in cash. The total value of the seized items on the black market is estimated to be over 20,000 Australian dollars.


The driver of the SUV is a 23-year-old man who was arrested and taken to the Maxwellbrook Police Station.


The man is accused of dealing with the proceeds of crime worth less than $100,000, storing knives in a public place, possessing 5 kilograms or more of tobacco, recklessly transporting/possessing tobacco products to deceive income, personally holding suspected stolen items, selling prohibited substances not for wholesale, dealing with proceeds of crime worth less than 100,000 Australian dollars, and holding suspected stolen items in a location.


The 23-year-old man has been denied bail and will appear in Newcastle Local Court on the 23rd.
