Customs officers at Ireland’s Dublin Port have seized nearly 10 million illegal cigarettes, with an estimated value of €9 million. The brands involved include Marlboro Gold, Richmond Blue, and Marlboro Red. Authorities say the haul could have cost the state over €7 million in lost tax revenue.

According to RTE on May 15th, Dublin Port in Ireland seized nearly 10 million illegal cigarettes, with a total value of almost 9 million Euros.

 

Customs officials discovered these illegal cigarettes in an unaccompanied shipping container that arrived from the Netherlands on Monday (12th). The brands of cigarettes included Marlboro Gold, Richmond Blue, and Marlboro Red. According to the customs department, this seizure could result in a loss of over €7 million to the national treasury.

 

The tax authorities stated that the investigation into the seizure incident is still ongoing.
