E-cigarette Use Surpasses Traditional Cigarette Smoking Among American Youth
The latest medical research from the Medical University of South Carolina reveals that an increasing number of American youth are choosing e-cigarettes over traditional cigarettes.

According to a recent medical study conducted by the South Carolina Medical University, there is a growing trend among young Americans to replace traditional cigarettes with e-cigarettes. For the first time, the number of young people who start smoking through e-cigarettes has surpassed those who start with traditional cigarettes. This information was reported by the medical media outlet, News Medical, on November 13th.

 

According to the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) study, 14.5% of young adults aged 18 to 24 frequently use e-cigarettes, a figure higher than the previous report of 11% by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is expected that the next wave of PATH research data, planned for release in the fall of 2024, will demonstrate even higher growth.

 

According to the data, the usage of e-cigarettes continues to rise, with 56% of young people who regularly use e-cigarettes having never been regular smokers.
