Evaluation of FDA Human Food and Tobacco Project" Hearing
The Committee on Energy and Commerce announced a hearing on FDA projects on September 10, 2024, in Washington, D.C.

The Committee on Energy and Commerce's official website announced on September 10th that the Subcommittee on Health, a subcommittee of the committee, will hold a hearing on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 10:00 am Eastern Time in the John D. Dingell Conference Room at room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The theme of the hearing will be "Assessing the FDA's Human Food and Tobacco Program.


According to a hearing notice released by the committee on September 3, Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Chairman of the Health Subcommittee Brett Guthrie stated that...


This hearing will give our members the opportunity to hear from the head of the human food project and the head of the tobacco center, to understand how the FDA is helping adult smokers quit, preventing illegal products from reaching children, and ensuring the safety of the food supply.


The committee will hear testimonies from James "Jim" Jones, Deputy Commissioner for Foods at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Brian King, Director of the Center for Tobacco Products at the FDA.


In addition to hearing testimony, the hearing will also discuss a series of legislative proposals, including the Tobacco User Fee Modernization Act of 2024 (H.R. 9425).

According to Malay Mail and Bernama, Malaysia’s maritime enforcement agency intercepted a suspicious lorry at a jetty in Kedah’s Kuala Sanglang and seized nearly 16,500 vape devices worth more than RM500,000 (about US$125,000).
