Falmouth Community in Maine Bans Sale of Flavored Tobacco

Falmouth, Maine becomes the latest community to ban flavored tobacco products, despite opposition from big tobacco companies.

According to a report from WGME, the Falmouth community in Maine, United States, is the latest area to decide on a ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products.

On Monday evening, there was a face-to-face discussion regarding this proposal.

According to the organization "Maine Keeps Kids from Flavored Tobacco," despite efforts by the legislative body in the state of Maine to push for a statewide ban on flavored tobacco, communities throughout the entire state have already begun taking proactive measures. Despite pushback from major tobacco companies throughout the process, leaders in small towns like Falmouth remain determined to protect the next generation from these products.

China’s vape-related exports reached $1.047 billion in July 2026, up 16.5% year on year and the highest monthly total of the year. Growth was heavily concentrated in the U.S., where exports jumped 53.5% to $404 million and accounted for 94.9% of the overall increase. Exports to all other markets rose just 1.2%. By category, nicotine-containing non-combustible products—primarily vapes—under HS24041200 rose 24.7% and generated 95.5% of the total increase. Vape-device exports under HS85434000 fell 0.4%, while other nicotine-substitute products under HS24041990 grew 88.9% but remained comparatively small.

South Korean electronics component supplier ITM Semiconductor is reshaping its business portfolio after a decline in Apple-related protection circuit business, expanding its supply of vape devices and cartridges to KT&G. According to News1 on August 18, 2026, ITM’s vape-related revenue rose 24.8% year on year to 75.5 billion won in the first half of 2026. The company began mass production of vape devices at its Cikarang, Indonesia facility in January 2026, strengthening export manufacturing capacity. California Lawmakers Pass Disposable Nicotine Vape Ban, With Sales Prohibition Set for 2028

According to CBS Los Angeles on August 27, 2026, California lawmakers have passed Assembly Bill 762, which would phase out disposable, battery-embedded nicotine vapes in the state. If signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, manufacturing and importation of the covered products would be prohibited beginning January 1, 2027, followed by a sales ban on January 1, 2028. Driven primarily by concerns over electronic waste, lithium-battery fires and environmental pollution, the legislation would further shift California’s legal vape market toward rechargeable, refillable or replaceable-pod devices.
