Greater Manchester Dominates E-Cigarette Capital Ranking in UK
Greater Manchester leads the UK in e-cigarette accessibility, with four areas in the top ten, according to new research.

According to a report by Proper Manchester on April 2nd, a new study by Go Smoke Free shows that Greater Manchester is leading the rankings as the e-cigarette capital.

Researchers at the organization compared the population and number of active tobacco retailers in various cities in the UK, and compiled a list of the top ten e-cigarette capitals in the UK. The survey revealed that four districts in Greater Manchester were nominated.

According to research, Blackburn, which has 27 e-cigarette retail stores, has been named the e-cigarette capital of the UK. The city, with a population of 119,707, has 22.56 e-cigarette shops per 100,000 residents, the highest number in any town in the UK. Following Blackburn is Bolton in Greater Manchester, with 41 e-cigarette stores serving its 202,369 residents, equating to 20.26 registered e-cigarette shops per 100,000 residents. Manchester comes in third place with a total of 110 e-cigarette stores, providing 19.84 e-cigarette shops per 100,000 residents due to its larger population. Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire ranks fourth with 22 e-cigarette stores serving its 176,991 citizens, equating to 12.43 e-cigarette shops per 100,000 residents. Another area in Greater Manchester, Salford, closely follows with a total of 14 e-cigarette stores, which amounts to 12.03 e-cigarette shops per 100,000 residents.

A spokesperson for Go Smoke Free stated that this study highlights which regions in the UK are most likely to be affected by the upcoming ban on disposable e-cigarettes.

The Greater Manchester area has many shops catering to the needs of smokers, with Blackburn, Bolton, and Manchester city ranking in the top three. These cities may see significant changes in their e-cigarette culture, as bans will affect consumer behavior and existing e-cigarette retailers will need to adjust their products to comply with the new regulations.

Here is a list of e-cigarette capitals in the UK as compiled by Go Smoke Free:

Blackburn, Bolton, Manchester, Middlesborough, Salford, Stockport, Doncaster, Newport, Peterborough, and Nottingham.
