2Firsts, January 15, 2026 – According to Sinarharian, Malaysia’s Marine Police in Langkawi seized various vape devices and e-liquid valued at RM178,400 (about US$43,902.99).
Acting Commander Fakharuddin Amri Sanusi said the items were found in a mangrove swamp area near a canal by Kampung Ewa, Ayer Hangat, and were believed to have been prepared for smuggling out to a neighboring country.
He said Marine Police intelligence officers, working with the Ayer Hangat police station, detected several suspicious boxes stacked in the mangroves and carried out further checks at about 1 a.m. The boxes contained vape devices and e-liquid of various brands and flavors. No individuals were located at the scene and no arrests have been made.
The seized items were taken to the Langkawi Marine Police Operations Base and then handed over to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (Langkawi District) for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967 concerning possession or storage of prohibited goods suspected to be smuggled. Marine Police said patrols and enforcement operations will continue to be intensified to combat smuggling and safeguard national waters.
