IEVA Urges Spanish Government not to Ban Flavored E-Cigarettes

IEVA warns against Spain's proposed ban on flavored e-cigarettes, citing risks of black market activity and unsafe products flooding the market.

According to a report by Tobaccoreporter on May 11, the Independent European Vaping Alliance (IEVA) is urging the Spanish government not to ban flavored e-cigarettes. The organization has stated that the proposed measure could pose risks, as it may not only stimulate black market activity, but also lead to a proliferation of dangerous and non-compliant products in the market.

IEVA stated in a press release that "the effective ban on e-liquid in the Spanish market will lead to the flourishing of a black market for dangerous and non-compliant products.

Furthermore, the organization warned that this will lead to an increase in smoking rates, put over 3000 jobs at risk in the Spanish e-cigarette industry, and result in a decrease in tax revenue leading to a reduction in government income. IEVA expressed their concerns in the ongoing public consultation.
