Iraqi city destroys over 26,000 e-cigarettes, including "VOZOL" brand, in response to concerns about use in schools.

According to a report from Kurdistan24 on August 19th, the special committee in the city of Erbil, Iraq, destroyed over 26,000 e-cigarettes, including the well-known brand "VOZOL," which were recently seized.

The Mayor of the city, Nabaz Abdulhamid, announced in a press conference that the destruction operation was taken as a measure to address concerns about e-cigarettes appearing in elementary schools.

In response to the issue of e-cigarettes, two departments within the Kurdistan Regional Government have issued directives to curb the spread of e-cigarette devices.

We established a special committee to enforce these decisions and successfully seized 26,000 e-cigarettes.

Abdulhamid stated that the operation also shut down eight e-cigarette shops and warned that stores not in compliance with regulations will face closure and fines. The committee's investigation found that these e-cigarettes were smuggled from Sulaymaniyah to Erbil and sold without proper regulation.

Abdulhamid emphasized,

We are taking comprehensive steps to address this issue. E-cigarettes are harmful, and we are committed to completely eliminating them. We will strengthen inspections, monitor physical stores, and online sales.
