Latvia Passes Law Restricting Tobacco Sales to Minors and Flavored E-cigarettes
Latvia's parliament passes bill banning tobacco sales to those under 20, extending to e-cigarettes and herbal smoking products, effective from January 1, 2025.

According to a report by the Belarus news agency "Reform," the Latvian parliament has passed a bill that prohibits individuals under the age of 20 from smoking, purchasing, or selling tobacco products. This restriction will also apply to tobacco substitutes, herbal smoking products, electronic smoking devices, and refill containers. The ban is set to be implemented starting from January 1, 2025.

Currently, Latvia permits the sale of tobacco products to individuals aged 18 and above.

The proposed amendment to the law also prohibits the sale of flavored e-cigarettes and tobacco alternatives, except for tobacco flavor. These restrictions will also come into effect on January 1, 2025.
