MP Mike Johnson expressed his support for the bill, stating that e-cigarette companies are attempting to get the younger generation addicted.
However, the lawmaker Nicholas Muscarello Jr is concerned about whether cigarette flavors will also be banned, such as mint flavor.
Whitney stated that the flavor of these types of cigarettes will not be banned, but he noted that some neighboring states have already passed legislation prohibiting such flavors.
On the other hand, Heather Hutton, who represents electronic cigarette store owners, expressed opposition.
She stated that her shop has a history of over 20 years and only 2% of their sales come from menthol or tobacco products.
She believes that law enforcement should hold young people accountable instead of banning such products from legitimate businesses.
She also stated that the proposed bill would harm the interests of smokers who are trying to quit.
