Malawi Government Approves WHO's Tobacco Control Framework Convention
Malawi government has officially implemented the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, prioritizing public health and well-being.

According to the official website of the World Health Organization (WHO) on November 16, the Malawian government has approved the formal implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC). This decision has placed Malawi among the ranks of the other 182 signatories of the convention, showcasing the country's high-level political commitment to the global tobacco epidemic and prioritizing public health and well-being.

 

The convention aims to address the grave public health risks associated with tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke. Malawi's approval of the convention in August 2023 demonstrates the country's commitment to protecting present and future generations from the harms of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke.

Hunan China Tobacco Industry files heated tobacco device patent featuring adult-user identification through pressure sensing
China-based Hunan China Tobacco Industry Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Baisha Technology Co., Ltd. have filed a patent application covering an adult-user identification mechanism for heated tobacco devices. The patent proposes using flexible pressure sensors installed in the device grip area to collect pressure distribution patterns generated when users hold the device. The system evaluates factors including effective contact area, grip shape and contact duration, and combines roller movement detection to determine whether unlocking conditions are met. The filing reflects exploration of device-level user recognition and smarter interaction technologies for heated tobacco products (HTPs).

DOJ Trade Fraud Task Force Tops $1 Billion in Cases, Putting Vape Supply Chains at Risk of Fraud Enforcement
According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Fox News and other reports, the DOJ’s Trade Fraud Task Force (TFTF) has been linked to more than $1 billion in recoveries, penalties, forfeitures and publicly charged losses in less than one year. The task force focuses on trade fraud issues including country-of-origin fraud, illegal transshipment, false declarations and tariff evasion. According to China Customs export data analyzed by 2Firsts, China’s vape export mix continued to evolve during January-May 2026. Exports of electronic vaporisation devices (HS 85434000) increased 13.00% year on year, supported by growth in both shipment volume and average export prices. Meanwhile, exports of nicotine-containing non-combustible products (HS 24041200) declined 6.89%, with lower shipment volumes partly offset by higher average export prices.
