Philip Morris Korea Expands Recycling Program for Used IQOS Devices and Pods
Philip Morris Korea plans to expand the implementation of a recycling system for used IQOS devices and pods.

According to a report from South Korean financial news on December 18th, Philip Morris Korea is planning to expand the implementation of a "recovery system" campaign. This campaign is aimed at collecting used IQOS devices and pods and disposing of them according to appropriate waste management procedures.

The plan will be implemented on the 20th of this month in 10 IQOS specialty stores nationwide, including the Ruyi Island IFC store, Guanghua store, Nanhequ Street store, Gaoyang store, Busan Century City store, Banqiao store, Gintakes store, Incheon Yanshou store, Henan store, and Gwangju store.

Meanwhile, the three official sales stores, Anyang Store, Tianan Store, and Eastern Store, are also experimentally implementing this movement.

Used IQOS devices and specially designed pods, "Heets" and "Terea," can be directly disposed of in designated trash bins set up in stores. The collected devices and pods will undergo dismantling and sorting, and the relevant materials will be further processed or disposed of by a professional waste management company. It is estimated that this recycling initiative will annually recover nearly 60 tons of devices and 1-2 tons of pods.

In the month of April, the Korean PMI initiated a 100-day recycling campaign on a certain day, with the aim of collecting 100 kilograms of used IQOS devices and pods. Thanks to the active participation of consumers, during the trial period, a total of 103 kilograms of IQOS devices and 136 kilograms of pods were collected.

A source from the Korean PMI expressed, "Through the 'Gather Together' movement, the Korean PMI aims to gather used IQOS devices and pods to prevent their casual disposal and minimize their impact on the environment, while also contributing to resource recycling efforts.
