Phillip Morris Korea Begins Full Production of New IQOS Iluma Device
Phillip Morris Korea begins full production of Terea, an exclusive tobacco stick for its IQOS Iluma device in its Liangshan factory in South Korea.

On Thursday, Phillip Morris Korea (PMK) announced that they have commenced full-scale production of Terea, the exclusive tobacco stick for their new heat-not-burn (HNB) device IQOS Iluma, at their factory in Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea.

The Liangshan factory of this tobacco company produces and supplies all Terea products sold not only in Korea, but also overseas. Terea cigarettes come in ten different types, including two regular product lines, four fresh series, and four special series.

Unlike PMK's previous Heets cigarette stick product, the tip of the Terea cigarette stick is sealed, preventing any residue from being left in the device after smoking. This means that users do not have to go through the inconvenience of cleaning their electronic cigarette device every time they use Terea.

The combination of the IQOS Iluma device and Terra tobacco sticks has received positive feedback from consumers.

The IQOS Iluma device heats tobacco using an internal mechanism rather than burning it, thus reducing harmful emissions by an average of nearly 95% as compared to conventional cigarettes - equivalent to the previous IQOS model's reduction level.

PMK puts in every effort to produce high-quality products through a strict quality management system. The manufacturing process at the Liangshan factory follows globally standardized processes set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), such as ISO-9001 for quality management system certification, ISO-14001 for environmental management system certification, and ISO-45001 for occupational health and safety management system certification.

The Liangshan factory also has a quality control team that checks whether the products produced there meet strict domestic and international quality standards. The team has been certified by an internationally recognized testing organization accredited by the Korean laboratory accreditation program.

All workers at Philip Morris Korea's Liangshan factory take pride in producing high-quality, non-combustible tobacco products such as Terea. This helps achieve the company's vision of 'no smoke future' and contributes to the development of the national economy. We will continue to ensure the quality control of our products and seek future environmental management by providing better alternatives for adult smokers," said Zia Ahmed Karim, manufacturing director of Philip Morris Korea.

The Liangshan factory is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Currently, the facility employs approximately 600 staff members. Since 2017, PMK has invested over 300 billion Korean won (approximately 225.83 million US dollars) to construct production facilities for non-combustible products, such as Heets.
