Spanish Police Seize Over 24,000 Smuggled E-Cigarettes; Two Arrested on Multiple Charges
The Spanish Civil Guard carried out an operation targeting e-cigarette smuggling and illegal distribution, seizing a total of 24,520 e-cigarettes of unknown origin valued at approximately €312,000.

In the first operation, a Polish truck was intercepted on the A-4 highway and found to be carrying 12,200 e-cigarettes. The goods were destined for a local company, and the driver faces administrative charges while the products are awaiting destruction. 

 

In the second operation, 12,320 e-cigarettes were seized and two individuals were arrested on charges including smuggling, endangering public health, document forgery, infringement of industrial property rights, and fraud. 

 

Police stated that the products had no legitimate source or health traceability, and were suspected to be distributed through stores and online sales. The operations were carried out by multiple teams working together.

 


Firsts, October 10, 2025 - According to a report by 101tv on October 9th, the Spanish National Guard seized a total of 24,520 e-cigarettes of unknown origin in two enforcement actions against smuggling and illegal distribution. The estimated market value of the seized e-cigarettes is 312,480 euros. One of the operations led to the arrest of two suspects, who are facing charges of smuggling, endangering public health, falsifying documents, infringing industrial property rights, and fraud.

 

The first operation was initiated by the Seville Headquarters Finance and Border Patrol. Law enforcement officers intercepted a truck from Poland on the A-4 highway, confiscating 12,200 smuggled e-cigarettes valued at 146,400 euros, destined for a company located in Seville. The driver was identified and subsequently charged with administrative offenses for suspected violations of smuggling and health-related regulations. The goods were seized and are awaiting destruction.

 

The second operation focused on a company located in Algeciras suspected of distributing unauthorized products. Police stopped a cargo van heading to the city of Seville in Seville province, where they found 12,320 e-cigarettes without any origin or hygiene traceability documents, valued at 172,480 euros. Authorities then arrested two suspects, alleging that they planned to sell the products through professional shops and online platforms.

 

The Spanish National Guard pointed out that the operation was conducted by a joint effort of the Seville Command Headquarters, the Finance and Border Patrol unit, the Utrera Branch team, as well as officers stationed in Los Palacios and Villafranca.
