Thai Medical Student Association Calls for Smoke-Free Parliament
Thai medical student association urges complete ban on smoking and e-cigarettes within the parliament premises.

In a meeting held at the Thai Parliament on December 13, Nop.Thosaporn Serirak, a representative of the Thai Patriot Party, stated that the Thailand Medical Student Association had visited the Parliament with the aim of making it a completely smoke-free and e-cigarette-free zone.

 

Nop. Thosaporn stated, "As the place where national laws are enacted, we urge swift action to declare the parliament a completely smoke-free and e-cigarette-free zone.

During a raid by federal and local law enforcement officers at an e-cigarette shop in Laredo, Texas, a 25-foot-deep tunnel, possibly linked to a transnational criminal organization, was discovered. The shop's owner, Gilberto Pena, was arrested for possession of controlled substances. Cocaine and marijuana were also seized during the raid. A total of 22 e-cigarette shops were inspected in Laredo, resulting in one arrest. The shop in question remains open, but the tunnel will be removed.

The Philippines’ Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed 75 criminal complaints before the Department of Justice, accusing multiple individuals and businesses of involvement in the illicit trade of vape products, with total tax liabilities exceeding ₱711.13 million (about US$12.28 million). The BIR Commissioner stated that the vapes involved in the cases had not paid the required excise taxes.
