In early 2025, the Standing Committee of the Mexican Congress confirmed the constitutional validity of these health reforms, and this proposal aims to strengthen them based on Article IV, Section 5 of the Constitution.

 

The proposal details the terms that the Mexican Ministry of Health must follow in its centralized procurement of medical equipment and related supplies, while also considering how to integrate Mexican programs to achieve more equitable and sustainable economic development and strengthen the domestic market.

 

The bill also strengthens the powers of the Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) to streamline its processes and accelerate administrative efficiency, thereby promoting effective compliance with regulations by the private sector.
