Vietnam's Health Department Seizes Hundreds of Illegal E-Cigarettes

On June 8th, according to Vietnamese media outlet Congly, hundreds of unidentified electronic cigarettes and vaping oils were discovered and confiscated by the Vietnamese health authorities in the province of Hoa Binh. Experts are advising the public, particularly young individuals, against using electronic cigarettes due to the health risks they pose.

During a surprise inspection carried out by a task force, 827 unauthorized products were discovered, including 530 bottles of e-cigarette liquid, 148 disposable e-cigarette pods, and 149 disposable e-cigarettes.

All of these products are produced abroad and do not have labels in Vietnamese. The store owner is unable to provide documentation such as invoices or documents that prove the origin and source of the goods.

The owner has admitted to purchasing these goods for the purpose of resale for profit. The Department of Health has created a list of confiscated items and is handling the case according to legal regulations.

The health department in Vietnam has issued a warning that electronic cigarettes of unknown origin contain various toxic and harmful substances which can lead to addiction, illness, and death.

According to data from the Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance, most e-cigarettes contain high levels of nicotine, a highly addictive substance that can cause toxicity when used in excess.
