BAT Subsidiary WITCO: Vuse Has Strong Positive Impact on Revenue
WITCO CEO Raoul Glynn announced at a press conference that Vuse e-cigarettes will positively impact company revenue.

According to a report by Newsday on April 24th, Raoul Glynn, CEO of West Indies Tobacco Company Limited (WITCO), announced at a press conference held at the Queen's Hall in Spain on April 23rd that the e-cigarette brand Vuse will have a strong and positive impact on the company's revenue.

The quality of Vuse products surpasses that of other brands on the market, with attractive prices and a strong profit structure. Witco's advantage lies in its distribution and ability to obtain the necessary products, which is what we value.

Greene stated that approximately 12% of consumers in the market are using e-cigarette products. "We anticipated changes in the market and observed e-cigarettes growing in a way that does not decrease tobacco sales."

Last week, the company revealed that as of December 31, 2023, its annual revenue had increased by 5.9% compared to the previous year. The company's financial director, Johan Grosberg, stated that despite taking many measures to improve operational efficiency last year, increased costs of raw materials, packaging, and labor led to an increase in sales costs. However, they were able to benefit from reduced expenses.

The brand support expenses align with our marketing plan, allowing us to trim slightly and execute the plan more effectively. Additionally, as part of a large group, we benefit from some restructuring taking place outside of the group.

Cochrane 2026 Update Adds Nine Trials, Keeps High-Certainty Finding That Nicotine E-Cigarettes Improve Quit Rates Over NRT
Cochrane 2026 Update Adds Nine Trials, Keeps High-Certainty Finding That Nicotine E-Cigarettes Improve Quit Rates Over NRT
Cochrane’s 2026 update of its living review on electronic cigarettes for smoking cessation included 80 randomized controlled trials involving 29,861 adult smokers, with nine trials added in this update. The review retained its high-certainty conclusion that nicotine e-cigarettes increase smoking cessation rates compared with nicotine replacement therapy. In absolute terms, about 10 in 100 people using nicotine e-cigarettes may quit smoking for at least six months, compared with about 6 in 100 using NRT. The review found no clear difference in serious adverse event rates between the two groups, while longer-term safety and the relative effectiveness of newer device types remain less certain.

Australian Coalition Unveils Illicit Tobacco Plan With 80% Excise Cut and Legal, Taxed Vapes and Nicotine Pouches
Australia’s Coalition has unveiled a national illicit-tobacco policy that would cut tobacco excise by 80% and create legal, regulated and taxed adult markets for vaping products and nicotine pouches if it wins government. The plan proposes an excise of A$0.50 per millilitre of e-liquid and A$0.025 per milligram of nicotine in pouches, alongside A$200 million in additional enforcement and a A$60 million three-year public-awareness campaign. The Coalition says the package would narrow the price advantage of illicit products and undermine organised crime, while Labor and public-health groups warn that dramatically cheaper cigarettes could reverse long-term declines in smoking.

The estimated costs are mainly linked to inventory adjustments, retail storage changes and the resources required for businesses to understand and implement the new requirements. The measures form part of the UK’s broader efforts to tighten vape regulation, particularly around product displays, packaging and sales practices.
