BAT's Major Shareholder The Capital Group Companies, Inc. Increases Voting Power
BAT shareholder The Capital Group Companies, Inc. increases voting rights from 14.04% to 15.08%, signaling potential governance impact.

According to a report from Tobacco Reporter on January 16th, British American Tobacco (BAT) announced a change in the composition of the company's shareholder voting rights, with The Capital Group Companies, Inc. increasing their voting rights from 14.040509% to 15.075429%.


The Capital Group Companies, Inc., based in Los Angeles, is the largest shareholder of British American Tobacco. Since acquiring a 13% stake in July 2024, its ownership has increased to 14% by December 2024.


According to reports, The Capital Group Companies, Inc. is the world's largest active fund management company, with assets under management (AuM) reaching $2.7 trillion. This adjustment signals a significant change in the ownership structure of British American Tobacco, which could potentially impact the company's governance and decision-making processes.
