Brazilian Doctor Warns of Growing Health Risks Associated with High Nicotine Levels in E-cigarettes
Brazilian lung doctor warns of the dangers of nicotine in e-cigarettes, highlighting the increased risk of heart disease and stroke.

Key points:

·Nicotine Harm: Nicotine is a highly addictive anti-anxiety drug that can provide temporary pleasure, but long-term use can cause serious damage to the cardiovascular system.

·Nicotine Concentration in e-cigarettes: The nicotine concentration in fourth-generation e-cigarettes can be as high as 50mg/ml, much higher than the 1mg/ml found in traditional cigarettes.

·Nicotine Salt: Nicotine salt, a mixture of nicotine and benzoic acid, accelerates absorption speed and enhances addiction.

·Health Risks: The high nicotine concentration in e-cigarettes may increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, blood clots, stroke, and other diseases in many young people.

According to a report from desacato8 on August 28, 2025, Brazilian pulmonologist Sebastião Costa wrote an article on National No Smoking Day stating that despite full awareness of the potential health risks associated with smoking, tobacco use and its harmful substances continue to poison 1.2 billion smokers worldwide.

He stated that nicotine is a highly addictive anti-anxiety drug known for providing brief pleasure to every smoker.

However, it should be noted that behind this sense of happiness, it can also cause significant discomfort to the cardiovascular system of anyone who cannot resist its temptation.

It increases heart rate and causes blood vessels to contract, hindering blood flow. It contributes to the accumulation of plaque (atherosclerosis), making arteries stiffer. It stimulates the formation of blood clots within the blood vessels. It damages the inner lining of the blood vessels, promoting the formation of blood clots.

He stated that everyone who continues to inhale nicotine is at risk of developing high blood pressure, heart disease, blood clots, stroke, aneurysm, myocardial infarction, etc.

It is worth noting that the nicotine content in traditional cigarettes typically does not exceed 1mg/ml.

With the advent of fourth generation products, e-cigarette concentrations have skyrocketed: each milliliter inhaled contains 50 milligrams of nicotine. However, the cruel reality is that the mixture of nicotine and benzoic acid produces nicotine salts, accelerating absorption speed and further enhancing the already immense addictive properties of this psychoactive drug.
