Brazilian Senate committee plans to vote on e-cigarette regulation bill, facing opposition from health experts and National Health Surveillance Agency.

According to a report by Metro on September 2, the Brazilian Senate's Committee on Economic Affairs (CAE) is planning to vote on a bill (PL) aimed at regulating e-cigarettes on Tuesday (September 3).

This bill was initiated by Senator Soraya Thronicke and has received support from Senator Eduardo Gomez. It is reported that committee chair Vanderlan Cardoso had postponed the vote two weeks ago due to pressure from opponents.

Health experts have emphasized the dangers of these devices, and the National Health Surveillance Agency of Brazil (Anvisa) has also decided to continue prohibiting the law. Brazil has banned e-cigarette devices (DEFS) since 2009.
