In September 2025, China’s total e-cigarette exports reached USD 879 million, representing a 6.08% decline month-on-month but a 3.41% increase year-on-year.

By 2Firsts, October 20 — According to the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, China’s total e-cigarette exports reached USD 879 million in September 2025, representing a 6.08% decline month-on-month but a 3.41% increase year-on-year compared with USD 850 million in September 2024. Notably, the top ten export destinations accounted for 79.93% of the total, slightly down from 80.63% in August.

Overall analysis

Despite the slight overall decline, the structure of China’s major export markets remained largely stable, with the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany continuing to occupy the top three positions.

United States — Maintained its leading position with exports totaling USD 383 million, up 0.1% month-on-month, accounting for approximately 43.6% of China’s total e-cigarette exports.

United Kingdom — Ranked second with USD 90.05 million, though exports fell 22.9% month-on-month.

Germany — Remained in third place with USD 46.91 million, down 4.8% from August.

South Korea — Recorded a strong performance, with exports rising 13.2% to USD 35.32 million, climbing three places to rank fourth — the biggest gainer of the month.

Canada and Russia — Both saw declines; Russia experienced a sharp drop of 43.3%, the steepest among the top ten, while Canada fell 13% month-on-month.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Malaysia — Posted steady growth, up 2.1% and 10.2%, respectively, continuing to support demand in the Middle East and Southeast Asia markets.

Japan — Recorded a notable decline, falling 29.6% month-on-month, dropping three places to seventh.

Croatia — Newly entered the top ten with USD 16.26 million, replacing Indonesia, which fell out of the top rankings.
