Egyptian Food Industry Association Sets Standards for E-Cigarettes
Egyptian Food Merchants Association sets standards for heated tobacco and e-cigarette sales, ensuring compliance with national regulations.

According to Egypt's Cairo24 media, on April 18th, the Food Chamber of the Federation of Egyptian Industries has set standard regulations for the sale of heated tobacco and e-cigarettes.

The department chairman, Ashraf El Gazairly, received a document sent by engineer Khaled Sofi revealing specific details about e-liquids. The document outlines the general requirements for tobacco alternatives set by Egyptian Standard No. 1-8205, which regulate the standards for imported and locally produced e-liquid companies registered by the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality.

According to the documents, e-cigarettes must comply with Ministerial Order 101 of 2019. Ministerial Order No. 502/2023 has established the Egyptian National Standard No. 2023/8685 regarding the electronic device safety requirements for e-cigarette use. Ministerial Order No. 498/2023 has established the Egyptian National Standard No. 2023/8724 regarding general requirements for the display, sale, and storage of tobacco alternative products.

Furthermore, all e-cigarette registrations and the assignment of sales locations for these products will be managed by the committee mentioned above.
