France to ban nicotine pouches, details expected in weeks
France’s health minister announces plan to ban nicotine pouches popular among youth, with the ban set to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

France's Health Minister Geneviève Darrieussecq announced on October 30 that France plans to ban nicotine pouch products, which have become increasingly popular among teenagers, according to Politico.eu.

"They are dangerous products because they contain high doses of nicotine,” she said. "And this ban will be announced in the coming weeks."

In June this year, 12 European Union health ministers, including France's, called on the European Commission to restrict nicotine products on the market and ban flavored e-cigarettes.

During the interview, the minister expressed deep concern about the increasing number of reports received by poison control centers related to acute syndromes caused by nicotine pouches. Some cases have been quite serious. She stressed, "It is our responsibility to ban the sale of these products.
