Illegal E-cigarette Trade Crackdown in Norfolk County, UK by BBC

British authorities in Norfolk County seized nearly 15,000 illegal e-cigarettes, cracking down on underage sales by criminal organizations.

According to a report from the BBC on April 9th, the Norfolk County Trading Standards Authority has seized nearly 15,000 illegal e-cigarettes in a nine-month period. The council of the county stated that cracking down on illegal e-cigarettes remains a top priority.

According to a report released by the department, it has been found that an increasing number of age-restricted products are being sold to children. "Criminal organizations" in Great Yarmouth and King's Lynn are controlling the illegal supply chain of e-cigarettes.

Between April and December 2023, a total of 14,961 illegal e-cigarettes were seized by the department, with a focus on Thetford, Gorleston, and Dereham in the enforcement operation.

The Trade Standards Bureau stated on Monday (April 8) that they will continue to inspect businesses to ensure compliance with regulations restricting the sale of goods to minors. If any violations are found, such as minors making purchases, they will take action in collaboration with law enforcement.

The report warns that mandatory actions such as shutdown orders will be taken against those who violate regulations.
